The speakers

Keynote: Jim Barry, Senior Energy Transition Leader and Investor

Jim has been pioneering energy transition for over 25 years. He was CEO from 2000-2011 of NTR plc, one of the first leading global investors in energy transition.  He joined BlackRock in 2011 to lead their entry into infrastructure equity, with a Renewable Power investment strategy, helping them build one of the world’s leading energy transition investment platforms. He was latterly Chief Investment Officer of BlackRock’s then $330bn Alternative Asset business.

Jim finished with BlackRock in 2023 and is now spearheading the development of a global insurance carrier, developing risk solutions in the energy transition space.

John Finn

John is Managing Director of Treasury Solutions Ltd, an independent entity providing debt advisory and corporate treasury risk management services to the SME and corporate market. He has been involved in structuring debt and risk management deals totalling over €10 billion since establishing the firm in 2001. In his spare time, he is Chairman of the Investment Committee of SHARE, a Cork-based charity which supports independent living for older people.

Helen Cahill

Helen is the Co-Founder and CEO of Financefair, a Fintech Software Platform for ambitious, scaling businesses. Having provided over €2bn of fast, flexible, and non-dilutive funding solutions tailored to growth-stage companies over the last 9 years Financefair are bridging the funding gap where traditional lenders fall short.

Mark Flood

Mark co-founded Renatus with Brendan Traynor in 2014. Before founding Renatus, Mark was Managing Director of the Racing Post’s Irish operation. Renatus is a boutique private equity firm investing in Irish and UK companies with global ambitions, supporting founders and partners in achieving their growth objectives.

Alan O’Dea

Alan has been with Beechbrook Capital for 7 years and is a director in the investment team responsible for investments across Ireland, the UK and Northern Europe. His role includes origination, execution and ongoing portfolio management of invested companies. He is a member of the ESG Committee at Beechbrook.

Brendan Lenihan

Brendan is a professional non-executive director, chartered accountant, management consultant and mediator.  He is MD of Navigo Consulting, helping clients to succeed with their business objectives in the areas of strategy, governance, finance and change.  He is Board Chair of Irish International Trading Corporation (Cork) plc and a member of the Investment Committee of Enterprise Ireland. Outside of work Brendan chairs the Board of Trustees of Good Shepherd Cork which runs Edel House and a number of other services for vulnerable women and families in Cork. 

Mairéad Hennessy

Taxkey was founded by Mairéad Hennessy in 2016 to deliver the highest quality tax advice in a practical, professional and timely manner. Over the past 16 years, Mairéad has advised broad spectrum of clients on Irish tax matters, specifically in the areas of succession planning and tax efficient exit strategies for business owners. she represents Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies of Ireland CCAB-I on TALC, the main forum for making representations between the Irish Revenue and practitioners on tax administration in Ireland.   

Julie Healy

Julie is a Cork-based tax director in KPMG Ireland, specialising in private enterprise and family businesses. Julie started her career with KPMG 15 years ago. She provides tax compliance, tax structuring and tax advisory services. Julie’s experience covers a range of tax advisory projects including group restructures, mergers and due diligences. She has a special interest in advising clients in relation to succession planning for family businesses.

Paul O’Donovan 

Paul leads our Financial Restructuring and Corporate Advisory. He specialises in business advisory, sourcing funding for capital growth, business planning, and mergers & acquisitions. Paul oversees the provision of our range of specialist services for ambitious SMEs, including group structuring, corporate and personal tax planning, and dealing with owner, director, and shareholder structures and issues.
